COLUMBIA — The Arc of the Midlands is incredibly grateful for the sponsorships provided by the South Carolina Developmental Disabilities Council (DD Council) to bring inclusive programs and opportunities to all people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DD Council sponsors programs related to community supports, health, self-advocacy and employment.
The Arc@Work is one of our programs teaching employment skills and bringing forth opportunities in government and private sector jobs which is often overlooked regarding employment opportunities for people with lifelong disabilities. We are featured in the most recent DD Council newsletter regarding a recent trip to US Attorney General’s Office where students visited different departments and learned more about potential opportunities here.
Students from around the Midlands area have also visited Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Fort Jackson and many other agencies. We have also received sponsorship to work with Wal Mart! Good things are coming and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. For more information about Arc@Work, contact Mike Bell.
